The 16th ‘A Place to be Proud of Awards’ programme has been launched for 2019.
The Awards celebrate local unsung heroes and nominations are invited for individuals, organisations and projects that have made a special contribution to the community. There are a range of categories all sponsored by local businesses:
Arts & Entertainment Award – Basingstoke Leisure Park
Young Role Model Award – Queen Mary’s College and Breeze
Unsung Hero Award – Festival Place
Health & Care Award – BMI The Hampshire Clinic
Community Project Award – Face TV
Inspiring Teacher Award – Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council
Business and the Community – Basingstoke Together
Volunteer of the Year Award – Gazette Newspapers
Green Community Award
Above and Beyond Award
This year there are 2 new categories being introduced firstly a Green Community Award which is designed for a group who is committed to work together to make Basingstoke a cleaner, greener more sustainable place to work and live. The other new “Above and Beyond” award is for someone employed and goes way beyond their job description in serving the community.
As with 2018, the winner of the Business and the Community category will be chosen through a public, online vote. So everyone has a chance to have their say on the most deserving business.
The ‘Place to be Proud of’ Awards are also pleased to be partnering with The NHS Foundation Trust once again.
“Destination Basingstoke is delighted to organise these awards that celebrate the best of our community and the amazing people that make Basingstoke and Deane such a special place to live.” Said Felicity Edwards Managing Director of Destination Basingstoke.
Nominations can be made online at www.destinationbasingstoke.co.uk or by downloading a form. Closing date is 22nd March 2019. Finalists will be invited to the Awards ceremony to be held at The Haymarket Theatre on the 6th June.
