Do you have time to spare and the ability to drive and load a vehicle with small to medium size items? Are you passionate about animal welfare? The RSPCA Basingstoke and Andover branch are looking for a volunteer delivery driver. If you enjoy getting out and meeting new people then this would be an excellent fit for you. Volunteers would be able to make use of the shop van or their own vehicle if preferred.
See https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/basingstoke-and-andover-branch for more information regarding our branch and the work we do.
You will collect donations from supporter’s homes or businesses and deliver to our shop. Donations can vary from furniture through to bric-a-brac so you will need to be physically fit due to lifting and carrying out of the vehicle. In addition, you’ll need to ensure you keep accurate records of collections/deliveries and adopt safe manual handling techniques. No mechanical experience is required but if using the shop van, performing daily basic vehicle checks and reporting defects will be required.
If this sounds like the role for you then contact us now!
A good local knowledge would be beneficial but a valid, full driving license is a must. Whilst we have a shop van you may prefer to use your own vehicle (if appropriate) but it is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct insurance and up to date MOT.
Ideally, we’d like you to commit to at least one morning or afternoon per week, Monday to Thursday either 9.30 am to 1 pm or 1 pm to 4.30 pm. A long-term commitment of a minimum of 6 months is preferred due to the training requirements.
Location: Basingstoke & Andover RSPCA shop, 6 London St, Basingstoke RG21 7NU
